VIPs Receive Active Stirling Award

Residents With Active Stirling Ambassador

Our VIPs received their award from Laura at Active Stirling.

Laura put in for this award for our Active Stirling fitness group which is held at Roselea Court Care Home on a Thursday morning.

We are very pleased to be part of this Recognition Award, in particular supporting Generations Working Together, an area in which Roselea Court is very keen to expand throughout 2023.

Active Stirling is a sports and leisure charitable trust based in Stirling, providing sport, physical activity and health and well-being to the community.

Generations Active Together is an intergenerational project led by Active Stirling, in partnership with Generations Working Together and Stirling Council. The programme brings together Senior Sports Leaders from secondary schools and care home residents across Stirling.

The aim is to break down barriers and perceptions between teenagers and the elderly, promote leadership skills in pupils, and provide physical activity to older people; bringing communities together.

The pupils receive training in school and learn about the importance of physical activity in older adults. They also receive Dementia Friends Training from Alzheimers Scotland and have discussions about tackling ageism and stereotypes of older adults.

The pupils work together in groups to plan an exercise session for our residents each week. During their visit to our care home, the pupils have the chance to talk with residents, and this helps everyone to maintain and develop their social skills.

The pupils, residents, and care home staff who have taken part in the project have experienced the following benefits:

  • Increased confidence
  • Improved physical well-being
  • A sense of happiness
  • A better understanding of each generation
  • Greater mental health and resilience

Roselea Court Care Home, Stirling is grateful to have taken part in this intergenerational project, and we look forward to incorporating more intergenerational activities in the near future.
