The lovely residents at Roselea Court Care Home enjoyed a visit from Tunnock's Van and indulged in some sweet treats following a special delivery of Tunnocks Tea Cakes and Wafers.

They had a fab time, reminiscing about old cars and delivery vans, and seeing the van took them back to their younger days. They also learned lots about Tunnock's, where it originated from and who was behind the brand.

Tunnock's is a well-known brand that has been delighting consumers with its delectable confectionery since its establishment in 1890. Founded by Thomas Tunnock in Uddingston, a small village near Glasgow, Scotland, the brand has grown to become an iconic and beloved name in the world of sweet treats.

With each passing decade, Tunnock's further solidified its status as a household name. The brand's distinctive red and gold packaging became instantly recognisable, often seen on supermarket shelves, in sweet shops, and even at football matches.

Today, Tunnock's remains a family-owned business, with several generations of the Tunnock family involved in its management. The company upholds its time-honored recipes and traditions, ensuring that the exceptional quality and taste associated with the brand are maintained.

At Roselea Court, we like to regularly host activities that allow our residents to reminisce as reminiscing about past events can evoke positive emotions, such as joy, nostalgia, and contentment. It allows individuals to relive happy moments and remember their achievements, which can contribute to a sense of fulfillment and satisfaction.

Recalling memories stimulates cognitive functions, so engaging in reminiscence, exercises the brain, keeping the neural pathways active and potentially enhancing memory capacity. It can be particularly beneficial for individuals with dementia, as it helps maintain cognitive skills and provides mental stimulation. It can also be therapeutic for an individual and provides a safe and supportive environment for a person to explore their past and find healing through storytelling and reflection.
