What is Dementia Care?
Dementia is a term that is widely used to cover a whole host of conditions that affect people in a variety of ways. There are different levels of dementia, and it is mostly known for causing changes to cognitive functions.
It can be difficult to know when moving into a care home is needed. During its early to mid-stage, signs, and symptoms of dementia may look like struggles with preparing meals, remembering dates and appointments, and experiencing difficulty navigating themselves in and around the home. When these start to interfere with daily life, it could be an indication that it’s time to look for full-time care, such as a care home.
Nurses within our care home in Stirling provide 24/7 support with daily tasks such as getting residents ready for the day with washing and dressing, assisting them with dining, and providing any advanced medical care that they require.

Our Activities Team goes to great lengths to create a programme that offers a wide range of activities that are inclusive for all of our residents.
With each and every resident, we listen closely to their interest and hobbies, so that we can incorporate them into the weekly schedule. It is important to us that our residents can carry on doing the things they love, whilst having the opportunity to learn new skills, discover new interests, and meet new people.
For our residents with dementia, activities include playing board games, creating memory boxes, and inviting live music entertainers to our home. Activities such as these are a great way to alleviate negative emotions associated with dementia, such as stress and anxiety, and are also a great form of reminiscence.
