Getting a Trishaw of Our Own
Cycling without Age is an organisation that was set up in Scotland in 2017, with an aim to enrich and enhance lives, unlock doors and enable older people to once again be an active part of their communities, and “feel the wind in their hair”. When we approached them initially, it was about getting the capability to have some options around getting our residents out and about in the Stirling community.
When they told us we could get a Trishaw of our own, this gave us a purpose to set about getting the necessary funding to make sure that this would be available in Roselea Court.
We started out funding in March 2023 and in September 2023, with donations and support from Roselea Court residents, staff, relatives and the wider company, we reached our target of £9000. It was a large target, but we managed to achieve it which we are over the moon with.
By providing regular Trishaw rides, we want to enhance and enrich the lives of our lovely residents, giving them access to the beautiful outdoors through our trishaw rides, access which is often denied to so many people simply because of age or limited mobility. Residents will be able to sit back, relax, and take in the wonderful scenery.
Our staff will be partaking in some training in order to take residents out safely. We can't wait for the day we can finally take residents out once training has taken place which is planned for next month.
