Margaret’s Journey: Care Built Around Her Life

When Margaret moved into Roselea Court in March 2022 as one of the first residents, she brought with her a lifetime of cherished memories, strong family values and a deep love of music and faith that continues to define who she is today.
At 92 years young, Margaret enjoyed many happy years with her husband John before his passing and often reflects on the memories they created together. They raised two children and family remains at the centre of her life. Her daughter Susan visits regularly from Dunblane and their visits often begin with a coffee and a chat, a simple routine that Margaret enjoyed at home and still treasures today. Her son lives in England and phones every evening around 6pm, giving Margaret an opportunity to stay connected with his daily life.
From the moment Margaret arrived, the team at Roselea Court focused on getting to know her as an individual so that every aspect of her care and wellbeing could be shaped around who she is. Her routines, preferences, interests and life story are all reflected in the support she receives, helping her to feel comfortable, valued and understood. The same approach that was established with Margaret as one of the first residents continues to be the standard for every resident who has joined Roselea Court since.
Living with dementia has presented challenges and there are now some things Margaret cannot do as independently as she once could. However, with personalised support and gentle encouragement, she is supported to remain involved in daily life in a way that feels right for her.
Music continues to play a central role in Margaret's life. Having worked as a music teacher, she still enjoys playing the piano and singing whenever she can. She particularly looks forward to Fun Friday sessions where music and companionship are enjoyed by everyone taking part.
Edna, Team Leader, shares:
"Margaret responds so positively when music is involved. You can see how happy and engaged she becomes."
Lynn from the Wellbeing Team shares:
"Although Margaret has some mobility and sight difficulties, with reassurance and support she continues to stay involved in daily life and activities. We encourage her to do as much as she can herself."
Margaret's story is a reminder that moving into a care home does not mean leaving behind the things that make life meaningful. At Roselea Court, care is shaped around the individual, with personalised support that reflects each resident’s history, preferences and personality. For Margaret, this means continuing to enjoy music, family contact, faith and familiar routines in a way that feels natural and meaningful to her.
At Roselea Court, we believe every resident has a unique story that deserves to be understood and celebrated. Margaret's journey shows how personalised care and wellbeing support can help someone continue living with purpose, dignity and connection.
